New Features: Explore Your Own Style of Music
Enhanced After Touch and Live Expression Control that enables you to control the output in real time let you go beyond the instrument presets to capture the emotions and inspirations of the moment.
Explore your own style of music, built on the physical and emotional nuances of your playing.
Live Expression Control: Express What You Feel in the Moment
Assign Filter, Rhythm Part Mute, or any of 40+ parameters to the expression pedals, footswitches, and sliders to give yourself more options while you play. With limitless combinations, you can add more color to your output by tapping into your musical ideas and whatever inspires you in the moment.
Sliders
Nine sliders let you control the volume and brilliance of each Voice section and adjust the organ flute footage. You can also assign functions to each slider to suit your own preferences, giving you custom control over your performance.
Move the sliders a little or a lot to produce everything from subtle changes to dynamic transitions. The unique flexibility sliders offer—such as controlling multiple sliders at once—allows you to bring more freedom and expression to your playing.
Expression Pedals
The two expression pedals and the footswitches allow you to assign various functions in addition to the conventional volume control and pitch bend capability. Being able to operate them with your feet while playing with both hands greatly expands your expressive range.
Enhanced After Touch Opens the Door to More Possibilities
After Touch links the volume and timbre of the sound to how far down you press the keys after playing them. With enhanced After Touch, you can adjust various parameters to make acoustic instrument voices sound more realistic and explore entirely new possibilities of expression, weaving dramatic sonic changes and subtle nuances into your performance with just the tips of your fingers.
After Touch Extension
In addition to timbre and pitch, you can use the LFO to adjust volume, pitch, and filtering. This allows a broader range of variation and lets you change the timbre and modulation in real time as you play. The strength of your touch on the keys lets you bring out the rich expressiveness of acoustic instruments or craft more distinctive synth sounds.
Polyphonic After Touch (Class X only)
Yamaha’s new FSX-i keyboards detect the pressure applied to individual keys. This means that you can control After Touch effects on each key with each finger, even when playing multiple notes at once.
For example, in a guitar voice, you can apply vibrato to the melody alone, while holding other notes in a chord. In strings voices, you can dig into the subtler nuances of a string ensemble. And in synth voices, you can adjust the pressure on different notes in a chord to create incredibly mellow sounds. This feature does more than make acoustic instrument voices sound more realistic—it also reflects your sensitivities in greater detail and depth.
