Join our Electric Guitar Course, designed mainly for adults and youths. Master the basic guitar techniques through utilizing original course materials and a curriculum developed by Yamaha Music Foundation, Japan.
Our qualified teachers will guide you through a boisterous musical journey with our wide repertoire of rock and fusion style music, even if you are a beginner with no prior background in music. But if you know a chord or two, you are encouraged to join a more advanced level.
In Yamaha, we keep our group class size small, allowing greater personal attention for you. Alternatively, join an individual class for a more flexible pace of learning.

Course Content
- Proper techniques in electric guitar playing
- Basic music rudiments and musical terms
- Learning of powered chords, barre chords and other extended, altered chords
- Pentatonic scales and modes for solo playing
- Exposure to various rhythm comping styles and riffs
- Reading of music notation and guitar tablature
- Wide repertoire of Rock and Fusion styles using back-up tracks
Main Skills Acquired in This Course
Textbook 1
- Left and right hand (Acoustic Guitar as well) dexterity exercises for beginner physical conditioning
- Concept and application of simple Root and 5th Power Chords
- Scales – Major, Major Pentatonic (2 octaves), Natural Minor Scale
- Rock Guitar Phrases and Riffs
- Simple improvisation over chords – scale application
Textbook 2
- Chord studies – Suspended 4th chords and Major 7th
- Scales – Minor pentatonic Scales
- Intermediate improvisation over chords – scale application, application of chord inversions
- High octave range melody playing applying all the left hand techniques learnt in Book 1
- Reading of notational chord tones
Textbook 3
- In-depth concept of the 12-Bar Blues
- Chord studies – 9th and 13th chords
- Music Theory – use of anticipated notes
- Advance improvisation using jazz modes, whole-tone, altered dominant, diminished scales
- Right hand technique – Rock arpeggio sweep sweeping, Pick and Pinch Harmonics, Tapping
