Venova YVS-140 Casual Wind Instrument Wins Silver Award in Prestigious International Design Excellence Awards IDEA 2023

Yamaha Corporation announces that its Venova™ YVS-140 casual wind instrument has been selected for the Silver Award in the International Design Excellence Awards (below, IDEA) 2023, organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA).

Established in 1980, IDEA is one of the longest running and most prestigious design awards programs in existence. This year, 28 Gold awards, 55 Silver awards, and 76 Bronze awards were chosen from over 2,000 entries submitted from 32 countries and regions.

This is the fourth international design award to be won by the YVS-140, following the Red Dot Design Award 2022 Best of the Best Award, the iF DESIGN AWARD 2022, and the Design for Asia Awards 2022 Grand Award. Other models in the Venova series have received design awards from across Europe and Asia, while the Venova design itself has received the National Commendation for Invention 2023 The Prize of the Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office as high praise for its innovative design.

Venova™ YVS-140 Casual Wind Instrument

The Venova is a completely new type of acoustic wind instrument that was developed to allow players to enjoy authentic saxophone-like feel and rich expressiveness in performance with ease.

The innovative branched-pipe structure and meandering shape allows the instrument to be played with simple fingering resembling that of a recorder, making getting started easy even for players who are new to wind instruments, while still providing a satisfying playing experience for established wind instrument players.

The Venova is also easy to use and maintenance is simple, thanks to an ABS plastic body that is lightweight yet durable and can be cleaned with water. Due to its compact size, the instrument can be taken virtually anywhere, allowing players to enjoy music easily in a variety of settings, ranging from casual music sessions to playing outdoors. In addition to the YVS-140 tenor model, the full lineup also includes an alto and soprano model, for a total of three models to satisfy a variety of player needs.
