Yamaha Sound at MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM: EPSON teamLab Borderless

MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM: EPSON teamLab Borderless was jointly created by teamLab, based in Tokyo’s Chiyoda ward and headed by Mr. Toshiyuki Inoko, and Mori Building Co. Ltd, based in Tokyo’s Minato ward and directed by Mr. Shingo Tsuji. Yamaha also plays an important role, giving life to the museum’s vital audio dimension. The museum opened on June 21, 2018, in Odaiba Palette Town, Tokyo.

The concept of the “Borderless” installation is reflected in the name, with no borders or divisions between individual artworks distributed throughout a huge 10,000 square-meter space. Approximately 60 previously artworks, some previously unseen, are on display.

People understand and recognize the world through their bodies, moving freely and forming connections with others. As a consequence, the body has its own sense of time. In the mind, the boundaries between different thoughts are ambiguous, causing them to influence and sometime intermingle with each other. teamLab Borderless is a group of artworks that form one borderless world. Artworks move out of the rooms freely, form connections and relationships with people, communicate with other works, influence and sometimes intermingle with each other, and have the same concept of time as the human body. People lose themselves in the artwork world. The borderless works transform according to the presence of people, and as we immerse and meld ourselves into this this unified world, we explore a continuity among people, as well as a new relationship that transcends the boundaries between people and the world.

With “Sharing Passion & Performance” as its corporate slogan, Yamaha felt a close connection with the museum’s concept and provided the necessary audio equipment: VXS and VXC series speakers, XMV and MA/PA series power amplifiers, and more. The sound delivered by Yamaha Pro Audio devices ideally supports the light and visual elements of the artworks, providing a deeply moving, unforgettable experience for visitors.
