Nancy Bachus biography
Nancy Bachus is an internationally known teacher who has been a featured clinician at numerous piano teacher organizations and music conventions. She has presented in 45 states, Canada, the United Kingdom, Southeast Asia, China, Australia, and New Zealand. Certified as a Master Teacher by MTNA, Nancy has taught at the National Music Camp in Interlochen, Michigan and has more than 25 years of teaching experience at the college and university levels.
An Associate Editor for Clavier Companion magazine, she has published numerous articles in Clavier, Keyboard Companion, and a series of 18 articles in an "Athletes at the Keyboard" column for Junior Keynotes, (a National Federation of Music Club magazine). She is the author of the highly acclaimed Baroque Spirit, Classical Spirit, Romantic Spirit, and Beyond the Romantic Spirit piano anthologies; the Exploring Piano Classics series; three collections of music by Edward MacDowell; and is a co-author of Great Music & Musicians 1 and 2 that focus on music history and keyboard composers.
A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Nancy studied with pianist Eugene List and accompanist Brooks Smith, and more recently she has coached with Fernando Laires. Nancy was one of the performers in the original "Monster Concerts" in New York City (Lincoln Center, Radio City and Carnegie Hall), the White House and on the two "Monster Concert" recordings. She served on the Board of Directors of the American Liszt Society and was editor of its newsletter for many years.
Currently, Nancy is on the faculty at Cleveland State University and maintains a private piano studio in Hudson, Ohio. She has had numerous prize-winning students, many with professional music careers, and has also taught many piano teachers in her area.

At Nancy’s workshops, you will explore the following:
- Workshop #1: Piano Technique – What is Piano Technique? (How to develop proper piano technique through patterns and touches, and apply this to playing the masterwork classics so as to improve performance at concerts & piano exams.)
- Workshop #2: History of Piano Music from the Baroque to the 20th Century (How an understanding of style differences through historical, artistic & cultural backgrounds can better inform piano performance.)
