60 YEARS
OF MUSIC & SOUND
For six decades, Yamaha Music Asia has brought the joy of music and the power of sound to communities in Singapore.
From musical instruments that inspire creativity, to audio solutions that support performances and venues, to music education that nurtures the next generation, we continue to enrich lives through the power of music.
OUR JOURNEY
OUR STORY
The journey of Yamaha Music Asia began in 1966 in a small shophouse along Serangoon Road in Singapore.
At the time, the business focused primarily on the sale of Yamaha musical instruments such as pianos and electronic organs. Musical instruments were not yet common in many households in Singapore, and opportunities to experience music were still limited. Nevertheless, Yamaha Music Asia took its first step with a strong belief that sound and music have the power to move people and enrich everyday life.
In the early years, the operation was modest. With limited space, a small team, and little brand recognition, the focus was on introducing instruments and patiently sharing their value with customers. Yamaha was not yet widely known in the market, and building trust and appreciation for musical instruments required time and dedication.
This belief led to the next important step.
In 1968, Yamaha Music School activities began in Singapore.
Over time, Yamaha Music Asia evolved from a company that provided instruments into one that expanded opportunities for people to experience music. In addition to musical instruments, the company also contributed to environments where music and sound could thrive — through audio solutions supporting schools, homes, stages, and performance venues.
Sixty years since its founding, Yamaha Music Asia continues to deliver the value of music and sound through musical instruments, audio solutions, music education, and diverse musical experiences. What began as a small first step has grown into a continuing commitment to enrich people’s lives through sound and music.
