I was commissioned to write an opera-like piece, so I decided to base it on Dazai Osamu's short story "Run, Melos!", which is familiar to Japanese. The development of the score follows the storyline. At the tempo expression marks, there are some Japanese text written to tie back to the story, so I hope these will help to players to grasp the feel.
The minimum required for the percussions is 5 people, but it can be lesser if you choose to use only selected instruments. Try tweaking it to suit the size and nature of your band.
