Gematria is a traditional system where numerical values are assigned to alphabets in the Greek or Hebrew language, and the total value of each word can be derived. The founder of this system was said to be Pythagoras. It is believed that this system is also inherent in the Kabbalah, and that words with similar values bear some relation to each other. Hence by deciphering these, hidden meanings in the Old Testament can be discovered.

Using the same line of thinking, I made a chart where I assigned a unique letter notation to each of the 26 alphabets. Since there only 12 sounds in an equal temperament, I utilised the enharmonics like sharp, flat and double sharp as well. Based on this, I composed the song. There is a special reason for making this piece for 16 performers, but without this knowledge, the piece can be performed normally.

The score has been balanced to have each performer play one part by himself at some point, but if the group is big and some performers are required to play together, do note this balance. Also, the piano part may be a bit difficult for beginners. In this case, it is recommended to have piano duets.
